Some Jack-up Type Oil Rigs have Legs, which are approximately hundred (100) meters in length. The leg installation work has been carried out by crane in dock or by crane barge at off-shore up to now. In this paper, we report the "Leg Extension Technique by Sliding Method" that has been newly adopted by us at the quay of shipyard. 1) The dynamic response factor of sliding leg is approximately twice (2) in comparison with static response. 2) The minimum resonant wind velocity for vibration of sliding caused by Karman Vortex is calculated to be 22m/sec. 3) The acceleration occured at center of gravity of sliding leg was measured during sliding operation to be around 10gal. 4) We confimed that the "Leg Extension Technique by Sliding Method" was practicable in the view point of safety and cost saving.
