For low-temperature steel plates 33kgf/mm^2-class in yield point (KL33 by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai Standard) which were manufactured by taking a full advantage of the recently developed TMCP technique, the authors performed investigations and studies about their weldability, line-heating workability, and cold workability to evaluate their adaptability to shop fabrication for practical application to cryogenic LPG carriers, with the results as capsulized below. (1) The steel plates permit laying short-bead welds about 10mm in bead length as well as welding without pre-heating at 0deg.C in atmospheric temperature and are also excellent in plate-thickness directionality. (2) They are fully workable by line-heating to 900deg.C immediately followed by water-cooling (two-cycle process) or to 900deg.C followed by cooling in air (tow-cycle process). (3) They can be applied with the normal shop cold-working process without any problem.
