In 1993, International Maritime Organization (IMO) has adopted the interim standards of ship manoeuvrability as the Assembly Resolution A. 751 (18). Its standards have been applied from 1st of July in 1994 as the interim standards during 5 years. The standards adopted criterion such as turning ability, initial turning ability, course keeping ability and stopping ability in full load condition. For applying the standards, we have to verify the manoeuvrability of ship in full load condition. Sea tiral in full load condition for evaluation of the manoeuvrability can be rather easily carried out for tanker. However, in general, sea trial in ballast condition or heavy ballast condition can be only carried out for cargo ship. Though we must estimate the manoeuvring performance in full load condition, there is no systematic studies for prediction of the manoeuvrability in full load condition. We proposed prediction method for the ship manoeuvrability in full load condition by applying the results obtained by sea trial in ballast or heavy ballast conditions. We selected flow straightening coefficient γ and effective wake fraction coefficient at rudder location W_<R0> as the parameters that express the influence of loading condition on the ship manoeuvrability. From the numerical simulations, it is shown that the prediction method provides relatively good accuracy on prediction of turning ability. However, there still remain some problems to be solved especially on course keeping ability.
