Since finite element method is an engineering tool for obtaining approximate solutions, there is a possibility of existing a large error in its solutions, especially when mesh pattern used is poor. In order to reduce discritization error in finite element method, an adaptive mesh technique has been developed. Based on the distribution of estimated error energy norm, a mesh is re-created such that minimum error energy norm is obtained with satisfying a constraint condition for DOF. Configure model and finite element model are introduced into an integrated finite element analysis with which engineers do not have to consider the accuracy to finite element analysis and mesh for expressing structures. Adaptive meshes are automatically created by indicating only the required accuracy of finite element analysis. A numerical example solved in this paper shows the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive finite element analysis system.
