The Asian sport management area has experienced substantial growth in recent years, driven by the region’s rapidly developing economy, increasing investments, and growing interest in sport participation. The purpose of this report is to discuss the developmental characteristics, key themes, emerging trends, and scholarly contributions in Asian sport management research by looking into descriptive data from the Asian Association for Sport Management (AASM) Conference 2024. The descriptive data includes number of reports contributed by different countries and regions, the count of research categories, and the count of research methodologies employed. This information offers valuable insights into the priorities and areas of interest within the Asian sport management community. Additionally, three of the most widely discussed sport research areas at the conference were analyzed in this report, including “Marketing,” “Sport Tourism,” and “Management/Leadership.” The research presented was primarily conducted using quantitative methods, particularly surveys and experiments. Qualitative research methods employed included literature review, interviews and content analysis, among others. However, there was a call for more rigorous qualitative approaches. The paper underscores the importance of methodological rigor and advocates for further research on governance, legal, and economic aspects to ensure the sustainable growth of the sport industry.
