Abstract
The structure of 1,4,5,8-tetrapentylanthracene was determined by X-ray crystallography. The compound crystallizes in a triclinic system and was characterized thus: P1, a = 5.350(4), b = 9.580(7), c = 14.946(10)Å, α = 99.685(9), β = 90.243(11), γ = 96.275(15)°, V = 750.4(9)Å3, and Z = 1. The crystal structure was solved by direct methods and refined by full-matrix least-squares on F2 to final values of R1 = 0.0915 with I > 2σ(I). The molecule has a crystallographic center of symmetry, and half of the formula unit is independent. The molecular structure takes a semi-chair form.
