Abstract
A non-proton transfer complex of zwitterionic quinaldic acid with chloranilic acid adduct hydrate (C9H6NH+COO-·C6H2Cl2O4·H2O) crystallizes in triclinic space group P1, with unit-cell parameters of a = 4.4572(2)Å, b = 10.5334(4)Å, c = 13.6134(5)Å, α = 96.6794(19)°, β = 93.971(2)°, γ = 98.5496(15)°, V = 625.31(4)Å3, and Z = 2 forms a dimer through N+-H…O- and C-H…O- interactions, and the π…π interaction between the zwitterionic quinaldic acid species due to the influence of water in the H-bond network involving chloranilic acid and zwitterionic quinaldic acid.
