Abstract
Reaction of trialkylboranes with aromatic amine N-oxides and their boron trifluoride adducts was investigated. Reaction of trialkylboranes with aromatic amine N-oxides such as quinoline 1-oxide (II), lepidine 1-oxide (VI) and pyridine 1-oxide (IX) afforded 2-alkyl derivatives, and that with isoquinoline 2-oxide (VIII) gave 1-alkyl derivatives. 2-Cyclohexylquinoline 1-oxide (III) was obtained with 2-cyclohexylquinoline (IV) by the reaction of tricyclohexylborane (I) with II. 4-Alkyl derivatives were obtained from the reaction of trialkylboranes with aromatic amine N-oxide boron trifluorides. However, lepidine 1-oxide boron trifluoride (XXVII) which has a substituent in 4-position gave 2-alkyl derivative.
