話題化ー左方転位との比較の上で

In this study, we see topicalization and LD in different syntactic environments-main clauses, particularly in wh-questions, and subordinate clauses with several COMP constituents ; relative clauses and sentential subjects. Different phenomena between the two have shown that topicalized constituents in topicalization and LD occupy different positions, which is against the wh-movement analysis, where topicalized constituents in the two share the TOPIC position. It is suggested that topicalized constituents of LD are in higher node than those of topicalization. Particularly, LD in a main clause, and LD and topicalization in a subordinate clause offer crucial evidence to the claim, suggesting that the topicalized constituents in LD are in the TOPIC node. The topicalization data in a relative clause and sentential subject suggests topicalized constituents are in S node. Based on the observation, along with the presence of a gap in the configuration, an alternative analysis, the S-adjunction analysis is proposed for topicalization, instead of wh-movement analysis.
