Abstract
Hansa Yellow and Benzidine Yellow prepared from acetoacetarylides are the important pigments, the former having a superior light fastness and bright shade and the latter a strong resistance to oil and higher tinctorial strength. For these reasons, the author synthesized many acetoacetarylides from various amines and ketene dimer, and the properties of pigments prepare, d by coupling with tetrazotized 3, 3'-dichlorobenzidine have been investigated. The colors were compared with the pigment from acetoacetanilide as a standard. 2-Chloro, 3-chloro, 2-methyl, and 2-methoxy derivatives showed greenish shade while nitro derivatives showed strong reddish shade. 2, 4-Dimethoxy-5-chloro, 4-ethoxy, and 4-methyl derivatives gave reddish yellow tint. Alkoxy derivatives generally have shown strong resistance to light, among which 2-methoxy, 2-ethoxy, and 4-methyl, and 2, 4-dimethyl derivatives showed strong resistance to light. 2-Chloro, 3-chloro, 3-methyl, 4-methyl, and 2, 4-dimethyl derivatives showed strong resistance to heat.
