Abstract
By use of fluorene as a starting material 3-hydroxyfluorene, 3-hydroxyfluorene-2-carboxylic acid and 3-hydroxyfluorenone-2-carboxylic acid were synthesized through an intermediate of 2-amino-3-nitrofluorenone as indicated in the follo-wing steps. 2-Aminofluorenone→2-acetamidofluorenone→2-acetamido-3-nitrofluorenone→2-amino-3-nitrofluorenone→3-nitrofluorenone (m.230-1°)→3-aminofluorenone (m. 159-60°)→3-hydroxyfluorenone (m. 227-8°)→3-hydroxyfluorene (m. 137-8→)→3-hydroxyfluorene-2-carboxylic acid [m. 280-2°(decompn.)]. 2-Amino-3-nitrofluorenone→2-cyano-3-nitrofluore-none (m.292-3°)→3-nitrofluorenone-2-carboxylic acid [m.275-8°(decompn.)]→3-aminofluorenone-2-carboxylic acid (m. 320-1°)→3-hydroxyfluorenone-2-carboxylic acid [m. 278-80°(decompn.)].
