A polyamide of comparatively low molecular weight was obtained by condensation-polymerization of dimethyl isocinchomeronate and hexamethylenediamine in m-cresol solvent. Further fusion of the product in vacuo yielded a spinnable polyamide-polymer. However, Nylon salt from isocinchomeronic acid and hexamethylenediamine could not be polymerized by itself.
The polymerized product thus obtained, having pyridine rings in the main chain, has a suitable melting point to be “melt” spun through the use of Koka-type Flow Tester and gives a new fiber having physical properties for practical use by hot and dry drawing. It has some characteristics to supplement the deffects of Nylon and showed a clear X-ray pattern of fiber.
