Abstract
An application of trichloroiminocyanuric acid for substitution of sulfonyl group in anthraquinone-α-sulfonic acid and anthraquinone-β-sulfonic acid by chlorine to give corresponding chloroanthraquinones has been made.Trichloroiminocyanuric acid was added portionwise into potassium or sodium anthraquinonesulfonate in 2.1% hydrochloric acid at 95-98°C to give α-and β-chloroanthraquinone with 95% and 93% yield, respectively.
