Abstract
With a view that a cationic dye has affinity to polyacrylonitrile type fiber and α, β-bis(5-methylbenzoxazolyl)ethylene is a excellent fluorescent brightening agent for polyester type fiber, α, β-bis(5-methylbenzoxazolyl)ethylene was chloromethy lated with formaldehyde and chlorosulf onic acid in concentrated sulfuric acid, and the chloromethylated compound thus obtained was derived with good yield into some onium compounds which were useful as fluorescent brightening agent having excellent affinity to polyacrylonitrile fiber, good whiteness and fastness to light.
