Abstract
7-Naphthalimide-1-naphthol-3-sulfonic acid (3) was obtained by the condensation of naphthalic anhydride with r acid in water at 130°C. By coupling (3) with diazotized aniline, sulfanilic acid, p-nitroaniline, o-anisidine, o-dianisidine, o-tolidine, 4-nitro-2-amino-phenol and 5-nitro-2-aminophenol in alkaline solutions, the corresponding azo dyes were prepared, and their properties were examined.
The fastness of these dyes to light was poor but that to washing and potting was fairly good in comparison with usual acid dyes. Especially after chroming the dyes using nitroamino phenol as diazo compononent fastness was improved.
