The effects of the all-weathers construction method by temporary roof on thermal environment during summer was estimated. The working area is changed into comfortable and labor efficiency is improved by the temporary roof. That was confirmed by the results of field measurement and questionnaire. Furthermore, the simple calculations were carried out in order to investigate the effects by temporary roof in detail. The mean surface temperature of skin and the skin wettedness were calculated by heat balance equations of human body used values which were obtained by field measurement. The numerical results, with temporary roof, is lower than the results of outside.

Sound of fountain can became a noise in a housing complex. We evaluated 10 water sounds in an experimentation room at 50 dBA : only 3 sounds were pleasant. At 60 dBA, most water sounds turned out to be unpleasant. We laid a water sound over a traffic noise and souaht pleasantness. AIl water sounds improved the pleasantness. The improving degree reflected the evaluation scores of independent water sounds : a small falling water on water gained the highest score whereas jet out sound gained the lowest. Choice of the pleasant water sound seems important in improving environmental noises of a housing complex.

Consideration is given to the relationship between the supply and return air-flow distribution system, which uses the raised flooring and the ceiling as chambers, and energy consumption. The following four points are covered : 1) the definition of an index for evaluating the uniformity of the chambers' supply and return air-flow distribution ; 2) a proposed formula for estimating the relationship between the air-flow distribution non-uniformity rate and the chamber-aperture rates and loss of pressure ; 3) experiments using scale models to verify the accuracy of the calculation method ; and 4) clarification of how the air-flow distribution non-uniformity rate and the ventilation temperature-difference of the equipment in the room affect the energy consumption of the air-conditioning system.

In this paper, the effects of rooftop landscaping with lightweight soil on the thermal performance are described through the results of two outdoor experiments. 0ne was carried out with six kinds of miniature units for the purpose of making clear the thermal characteristics of building external surfaces with rooftop landscaping. The comparison between lightweight soil and non-lightweight soil was also made. The other was carried out with lawn-covered ground forthe purpose of making clear the characteristics of ground moisture with lawn-covered ground. It was proved that the lawn-covered ground has almost the same degree of evaporative cooling effect as crop field.

This paper describes the computer simulation system for room acoustic design composed of the sound field prediction and the visible and audible sound field system. A numerical simulation method, based on the numerical integration of Kirchhoffs integral equation, carries out integration with a technique for tracing the same phase elements like the Fresnel zone of a propagating wave-front, for calculating the impulse response ranging over audio frequencies in a room. The visible system shows the 3-dimentional distribution of the image sound source location possess frequency characteristic, as an example. Audible sound field system is based on OSS(Orthostereophonic system).

The multiple spectral analysis are effective in case of multiple input/output for correlative inputs. In this paper, we introduce to the results of the application and evaluation of the multiple spectral analysis which is applied the matter of floor impact sound in wooden floor structure. It is shown that there are the relations of correlation in L-value and Partial Coherent Output Power Ratio (P.C.0.P.R) calculated by Partial Coherent Function in the floor impact sound and also there are the relations between the P.C.0.P. R and the impedance of transmitted vibration, etc.

Heating and Cooling energy system with storage has become more and more popular in air conditioning system of buildings because of available inexpensive electoric night charge and decreasing electoric peak demand. In order to operate storage system adequately, it is necessary to contorol storaged energy turning on/off of heat source equipments. In this report contorol strategy of popularized contoroller for storage system based on operation hours of heat source equipments. Lastly contorolability of this contoroller is confirmed and discussed by the methods of simulation and field test using proto-type of controller.

The net thermal radiation of hot water panel was measured in accordance with the new measurement method using the radiant illumination meter, developed by Heating Machinery Society of Japan in 1987. The main results are shown as follows : (1) The ratio of radiation to total output of single panel and double panel are 20〜30% and 11〜14%, respectively, regardless of temperature difference between room air and hot water in panel. (2) the measured values are 0〜20% greater than predicted values of thermal radiation based on Hottel's radiant theorem.

A planning process by a client of a corporate dining room accommodating 2000 workers, prior to disclosing requirements to designers was reported. Spacing was the first consideration and blocking, the second. Several influences, such as menu, worker population, dining time, and arrival pattern, were considered. Spacing was studied, based on space standard and behavioral research. Blocking was studied from the view point of workers, dining operators, union executives and office managers. Long interpretation and negotiation were necessary before they reached an agreement. Some of the original requirements were adjusted due to trade offs.

Passengers using elevators would stay at an elevator lobby of the 1st. floor, when the concentration percentage of passengers exceed the transportation capacity of the elevators. If staying population can be estimated, it is effective in planning of elevator lobby space. This paper presents the relation between the staying population and the transportation capacity, which could be found out from the fact that staying population depends on the only two factors (transportationcapacity and arrival distribution of passengers). By using this relation, one can be easily estimate the staying population.

This paper tries to clarify the concepts of this resort plan. The main findings are as follows : 1) It was the comprehensive plan which included from the master plan to the paticular plan, such as transport network system, the fund plan, the management plan. 2) He attached importance to the ulitization of nature for resort resources. 3) This plan was reflected in the view of Tamura for national park.

Ancient Egypt Research Mission of Waseda University carried out excavating investigations on the hill top at Abusir-south. This article deals with the reconstruction of the column erected in the eastern part of the architectural remains. It is proved that the column takes lotus-form with bundling six stems and is greatly similar to the columns of the mastaba of Ptahshepses in the Abusir pyramid area. The columns of the building on the hill top is supposed to have shaped with references to that of the mastaba, and is unique to adopt the revival of Old Kingdom style.

Several dozens of Ramesside hieratic inscriptions written on undressed building limestone blocks have been found at Abusir site during recent excavations by the Egyptian Culture Center of Waseda University, Tokyo. The most striking feature of these short texts or notes is that the terms "wnmy (the right side)" and "smhy (the left side)" are used, eing similar to a labor system at Theban necropolis. It is presumed that the inscriptions should supply information about the building process and the organization of ancient builders at this construction site.

A GIS is developed as a comprehensive suport system to deal with vibration problems and to plan the campus at Nagoya University. Not only the analysis of each database but also an overall analysis such as spatial relationship and the dependence among data sets can be performed efficiently with this system. The system is coded with Tcl/Tk, a freeware with which GUI environment can be constructed easily, and C-language, for which a large number of library collections is available. As the result, the GIS come to be inexpensive and database come to be visual.
