Combination of ethanol and α-pinene was used as an attractant in an attraction trap in a Japanese cedar (Sugi) and cypress (Hinoki) forest. Simple regression analysis was used to quantitatively determine the amount of volatiles, and specifically the relationship between the respective quantities of volatiles and temperature. We used the quantities of volatiles as outcome variables, and temperature as predictor variables. Then, positive correlations were found. The study revealed, through simple linear regression, that the quantities of ethanol and α-pinene volatized from the trap were temperature dependent.
