Results from two recent expeditions to Laos in 2009 and 2010 are provided. The provinces Bolikhamsay and Champasak were investigated in terms of their spider fauna for the first time. The female of Mesida yini Zhu, Song & Zhang 2003 is described for the first time, the internal duct system of Argiope dang Jäger & Praxaysombath 2009 is illustrated for the first time, as is the variation of its epigyne. Altogether 150 species are now known from Laos. reThe distribution range of Nephila pilipes (Fabricius 1793) is larger than indicated in the World Spider Catalog. It seems to be the most abundant species of this genus in Southeast Asia. Parasteatoda celsabdomina and Eurychoera banna are recorded for the first time from Thailand, Hygropoda yunnan for the first time from Trat Province in Thailand.

A new species of water mite genus Neoacarus is described on the basis of the specimens collected at a mountain stream in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. The new species is distinguished from the congeners by its somewhat long ventral shield and ventral chaetotaxy, and ventrally swollen tarsi of the fourth legs. This is the first record of the genus Neoacarus from the Asian region.

Alloclubionoides grandivulva (Yaginuma 1969) (Araneae: Coelotidae) is redescribed on the basis of topotypical specimens collected from Tsushima Islands, Nagasaki Pref. Kyushu, Japan. Its male is described for the first time and the female internal genitalia is also illustrated for the first time. The male of the species is similar to other Alloclubionoides spiders in having a broad embolus and lacking a patellar apophysis, but only A. grandivulva has a huge extended tegulum.

Three species of theridiid spiders from Japan and Taiwan are transferred from Phoroncidia Westwood, 1835 to Ulesanis L. Koch, 1872: U. pilula (Karsch, 1879), U. nasutus (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1873) and U. ryukyuensis (Yoshida, 1979), all with new combinations. Ulesanis nasutus is recorded for the first time from Japan and Taiwan and is redescribed on the basis of the material obtained from those countries. General appearances and genital organs of U. ryukyuensis are illustrated. Two genera, Stegosoma O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1873 and Sudabe Karsch, 1879, are newly synonymized with Ulesanis.

Two new species of the genus Tegecoelotes are described from Chubu and Chugoku Districts, Honshu, Japan, under the names, Tegecoelotes chikunii n. sp. and Tegecoelotes hibaensis n. sp., respectively. Tegecoelotes chikunii found in Nagano and Gifu Prefectures is characterized by having extremely elongated femur and patella, short and bifurcate conductor, and extended tegulum in the male palp. Tegecoelotes hibaensis is distributed in Hiroshima, Okayama, Tottori and Shimane Prefectures, and is characterized by having elongated patella of the male palp and linguiform epigynal teeth in the female genitalia.

The distribution of the Holarctic Gnaphosa orites is presented, including its southernmost record in the Russian Far East. G. orites has the broadest geographical range in terms of latitudinal distribution among all known Gnaphosa species: from 43° to 70°N. Notes on its biology and diagnostic photographs of the habitus and copulatory organs are provided.

Rhitymna ingens Simon 1897, type species of the genus Rhitymna Simon 1897 is recognized as junior synonym of Rhitymna pinangensis (Thorell 1891). Evidences of similar morphology and body size as well as syntopic occurrence was finally completed by the observation of a mating couple in the forest in Sarawak, Malaysia. The species is firstly recorded from Brunei.
