We analyzed Rb-Sr-Nd isotope ratios of mineral dust in total aerosol load collected with rainwater continuously since 1998 at the summit of Mt. Sefuri, northern Kyushu, southwestern Japan. 87Sr/86Sr in atmospheric mineral dust varied from 0.7096 to 0.7180, and epsilon-Nd(0)CHUR from -19.9 to -3.5. During heavy deposition periods, the dust had high 87Sr/86Sr isotope ratios and low to middle epsilon-Nd(0)CHUR values, respectively. These compositions are comparable to those of sand and loess in arid areas of Northeast China, Takla Makan and Western Beijing. In summer and autumn, the isotopic compositions of the dust varied greatly; however, during light deposition periods, the Sr isotope composition was low. In these seasons, the contributions to the dust from Japanese soils and volcanic ash, transported by southern winds, were relatively larger than in winter and spring because of decreased mineral dust particle transport from the continent. Nevertheless, fine sandy desert particles and loess in general accounted for most mineral dust deposition in northern Kyushu year-round, even in summer.

We will show Asian scale source-receptor analysis based on the Global/Regional chemical transport model. Chemical species of SO2/SO4, O3 and CO are analyzed by Tagged tracer method and DDM (Direct decoupled method). We show the seasonal variation of source-recepotor relationship for anthropogenic and natural air pollutants, and also show that this approach is very useful to understanding the analysis of observation data.

We investigate the REE pattern in a stalagmite developed 18-4.5 ka in Maboroshi cave in Hiroshima Prefecture for understanding its potential use as a paleoenvironmental archive. The geology consists mainly of limestone, which is intruded by andesite dyke. The limestone-normalized REE patterns of the stalagmite show clear HREE enriched pattern. This is likely due to the higher solubility of HREE than LREE during dissolution of bedrock. The degree of HREE enrichment is influenced by growth kinetics of calcite. The other feature of REE pattern in the stalagmite is positive Eu anomaly, which is inherited from that in plagioclase in weathered andesite.

In order to test the growth hiatus hypothesis of a ferromanganese crust (Fe-Mn crust), we conducted Os isotope analysis of Fe-Mn crusts collected from the Takyo 5th and Ryusei seamount. The Os isotope compositions in the younger parts of Fe-Mn crusts are almost the same as the seawater Os isotope record from present to 15 Ma. However, in the older parts of Fe-Mn crusts, the Os isotope compositions show large deviation from the seawater Os isotope record. This deviation in the Fe-Mn crusts of the Takyo 5th seamount can be explained either by the existence of growth hiatus or the diagenetic effect during the phosphatization. By contrast, the deviation in the Fe-Mn crust of the Ryusei Seamount may be caused by the complex growth structure in this sample.

As well to better characterize Basin Nyos aquifer 30 years after the natural disaster, which killed about 1700 peoples (Kling et al.), a sampling campaign conducted in December 2011 has allowed to collecting 35 samples from 27 sites. The carbon dioxide control technologies include the carbonate dissolution methods, which are acceptable when considering the net benefit of ocean acidification avoidance. If the reverse reaction is suppressed during transport to the ocean, the neutralization is applied to the carbon dioxide capture from the distributed sources.
