High concentration acid and corrosive fluoric acid are used frequently for chemical analysis in geochemical study. However, commercially available automated separation system can not use such reagent. In this study, home-made automated separation system consisting of Teflon and inert materials was developed. Y separation was performed using this system and DGA chelating resin, which evaluated reproducibility and robustness.
Noble gas and carbon isotope ratios of volcanic and hot-spring gases collected at Kusatsu-Shirane volcano, Japan were determined. No temporal change in 3He/4He ratios was observed even after volcanic unrest since June 2014. The carbon isotope ratio and CO2/3He ratios are typical values for subduction zone volcanic fluid samples, with dominant contribution of marine carbonates.
