This study introduced the practice of combining the Working On What Works (WOWW) approach and consultation in school counseling. Through this practice, we propose innovative school counselor activities. In practice, a school counselor acted as a coach for the WOWW approach in an elementary school, observing one lesson per class and complimenting the students’ good behavior at the end of the lesson. After the class, the school counselor provided a consultation to the homeroom teachers to advise them on how to deal with problematic children in the class. The results of the three cases showed that the WOWW approach was effective as the children continued the good behaviors that they had been complimented on in the class. Such behaviors displayed by the children were empowering for the homeroom teacher. It also illustrated the effectiveness of school counselors sharing lessons with homeroom teachers, where it was possible to address exceptions that occurred in the lessons during the consultations and refer students to social resources. Furthermore, it is suggested that the combination of the WOWW approach and subsequent consultations makes the school counselor’s advice an effective teaching tool for homeroom teachers. I believe that this practice has the potential for implementation by various education stakeholders, including teachers and administrators.
