Focusing on young Japanese potential immigrants in Vancouver, this paper explores the reasons they do not commit to their own ethnic community and the meaning for them of being Japanese. It points out their preference of self-searching to community life, their divided evaluation of Japan in terms of citizenship, society and culture, and their stable self-identity as Japanese.

Current anthropological study contributed to social movement theory. However, some problem is left unresolved: Such as temporal variability of social network, or variability of 'flame', which enables people to get involved into social movement. In this presentation, I will focus on social movements of Iranians in Los Angeles, and explore how the existing group split, and what issues make conflicts between groups.

I would talk about a Goddess community in Glastonbury, England, which is known as the sacred place of alternative spirituality. I would say that the healing comes from sharing story and experience in this community and being in Glastonbury, a place of Goddess.
