In this paper, the mathematical structure of a fuzzy sets algebra, which is a distributive, complete lattice, containing the power set of X, the universe of discourse, is investigated. A complementary operation N is definedsuch as (1) N(A)=A^c for each crisp set A, where A^c stands for the usual complement of A, (2) contrapositional, and (3) N^3=N (quasi involutive). It is shown that there are only three reasonable complementary operations : (1) one-to-oneoperations--Zadeh's complement, Sugeno's λ-complements, (2) an intuitionistic complement, and (3) an exclusion complement.

In this paper, to investigate the relationships between fuzzy input data and fuzzy output data where both of them are represented as fuzzy numbers, fuzzy linear regression models are introduced via the concepts of possibility and necessity. Using the three indices for the equalities between two fuzzy numbers, three types of multiobjective programming problems to construct fuzzy linear regression models are formulated. In order to solve these problems, an interactive decision making method based on the linear programming is proposed. Finally, the proposed method is illustrated by a numerical example.

In the conventional discriminant analysis, attribute values of each sample are represented by a point in a multi-dimensional feature space. In this paper, we propose a discriminant method for fuzzy data where attribute values of each sample are represented by a fuzzy number vector in the feature space. The proposed method is based on a fuzzy linear discriminant function which maps the fuzzy number vector into a fuzzy number in a one-dimensional decision space. Mathematical programming problem, which can be solved using the linear programming technique, is formulated to determine the coefficients of the discriminant function. For the application of the proposed method, we discriminate the fuzzy response patterns of nine different gases measured by nine different gas sensors.

A flower arrangement robot system has been built in order to realize human intelligence and artistic impression by a robot system. Fundamental flower arrangement style in Ikenobo school has been realized, where 3 trees and 3 flowers are used. Two arm robots rotate each tree or flower. Their shapes are recognized by the CCD camera silhouette image. Then the arrangement position on a "kenzan" is decided by using fuzzy inference algorithm, where a modified version of Mizumoto's contributed value method is applied to the unification process of the fuzzy inference which makes it possible to realize the variety of flower arrangement process.
