In this paper, we define kleene algebras with implication and investigate the property of a suitable logic (called a Kleene logic) characterised by those algebras. We show the following;(1) Kleene algebras with implication can be embedded to the simplest such algebra 3; (2) The Lindenbaum algebras of Kleene logics are Kleene algebras with implication;(3) The completeness theorem holds for Kleene logics;(4) Kleene logics are decidable.

A Fuzzy abduction based on Lukasiewicz Infinite Valued Logic is proposed. in modus ponens and modus tolens of multi-valued logics, the inferred result is usually obtained as a set of truth values. In this papaer, we investigate the inference in a specific situation, develop assumptios for the inference and show that the inferred result is obtained as a truth value in the situation. Then, concepts of derivable fuzzy sets and fuzzy explanations of a given fuzzy set, which are based on the inference, are introduced and discussed. Fuzzy abduction is defined as the procedure to get a fuzzy explnation. Finally, an example of the fuzzy abduction is shown.

It has been generally said that multi-stage approximate reasoning shows the explosion of fuzziness with the number of reasoning stages. Then, in this paper we theoretically study the spread of fuzziness in a certain combination of four kinds of reasoning environment and four representative transformation rules of Rs, Rg, Ra, Rc to fuzzy relation.Consequently, certain conditions which enhance the spread of fuzziness and inhibit the spread of fuzziness were found out.

In this paper, we proposed a method for automatically constructing fuzzy if-then rules with certainty factors from numerical data. In our method, fuzzy if-then rules are constructed only from numerical data. Our method requires no optimization techniques in generating of fuzzy if-then rules. It is easy to comprehend each of the constructed fuzzy if-then rules because they are represented by the certainty factors. Next we propose a method for applying the rule construction method to multi-layer models of GMDH where fuzzy if-then rules are used at each layer. Using the multi-layer models, it becomes easier to represent multi-input systems by fuzzy if-then rules.

In this paper, we expand the network simplex algorithm for solving network structured linear programming problems. This algorithm performs the simplex operations directly on the graph or network itself. We expand this algorithm bymeans of a fuzzilize and multiplize of objective functions. And we apply this expanded algorithm to a shortest path problems with two objective functions suchas cost and time. The numerical example is also given, and it shows that the algorithm is very efficeint and effective with respect to the real world network problems under the computer configurations.

Multi-period production-transportation programming problems which are formulated production and transportation collectively have been studied variously for total and long-range management plans. The merit by them is that we are able to deal with some problems of increasing transportation cost caused by social conditions of manpower shortage, traffic jam, and also problems of over capacity or under capacity by the change of future demand. But their formulations can't adopt uncertainty. The number of interactive methods are a few to deal rationally with very many objectives by multi-period management plans. In this paper, we formulate multi-period production-transportation programming problemsconsidering fuzziness as to overtime in factories, demand forecasting, stock levels, transportation cost and goal levels. This formulation integrates plural satisfactional levels including very many objectives and constraints by minimum operator. In this model we suggest an interactive method recognizing fuzziness for interactive process.

In this paper, we propose a method to solve a mixed integer programming in terms of a fuzzy concept. The fuzzy concept is effective to express the knowledge when the knowledge of experts based on their experience should be employed to solve a problem.A branch and bound method is well known to solve a mixed integer programming. But the branch and bound method easily comes in combinatorial explosion because its efficiency is heavily depending on a pruning rule using the domain knowledge. In real problems it is an inefficient method because of the hugenumber of possible combinations of alternatives. In this paper, a genetic al gorithm is employed to solve the combinatorial optimization of a fuzzy mixed integer programming problem. As its application, it is shown its efficiency and effectiveness to solve the real problem of resource distribution using the method.

Genetic algorithms have been quite successfully applied to various optimization problems such as scheduling, transportation problems, traveling salesman problems, optimal control problems, and so on.In this paper, we propose an efficient method for solving a system reliability optimization problem based on genetic algorithm. In order to illustrate the effectiveness of the method proposed here, we deal with a numerical example of a reliability optimization problem with several failure modes for allocating redundant units.

Short-term prediction of the timeseries having chaotic behavior is to find some deterministic regularity in a phenomenon which was thought as noise or to beirregular and there by predict its state in the near future. For short-term rediction, the observed timeseries is reconstructed in a multi-dimensional state space according to the Takens' theorem of embedding. And local reconstruction is made by a set of vectors nearest to the latest vector. Proposed methods of this prediction are Gram-Schmidt's orthogonal method and tessellation method. However, the former method has a problem that it is hard to obtain high accuracy when the selected neighboring vector is not linearly independent. The latter method also has a problem that calculation time increases abruptly along with a rise in the dimension of reconstructed state space. For resolving such problems, this paper proposes the local fuzzy reconstruction method. And to verify the effectiveness of this method, we examine the result of its application to a short-term prediction of the logistic map and the Lorenz attractor which have a typical chaotic behavior.

We have developed a fuzzy estimation method of frosting state on open showcase's evaporator. The contant interval control, which period is satisfied in severe circumstance such as midsummer, is generally used for the defrosting control of open showcase. But it have many problems such as a decrease of goods freshness resulted from an increase of air temperature in showcase and an increase of runing cost, because amount of frost depends on outer conditions. Therefore, we had been experimentally investigated the frosting characteristic on evaporator, and obtained that amount of frost is mainly detected by the difference between air temperature in inner duct and air temperature at outside of evaporator. And we have been investigated the abnormal characteristic resulted from unequal frosting. After analyzing their experimental data, fuzzy estimation rules have been designed. And we confirmed that the proposed method can distinguish the frosting state between normal and abnormal, and the change of frost quality by field test.

Traditional possibility regression is not robust against outliers. To overcome this difficulty, a new methodology is proposed : the difference in intercepts of two parallel lines is minimized under the condition that a certain number of data are located between the two lines. This nonlinear regression method, featuring simple implementation and easy interpretation, does not require assumptions concerning the rate of outliers in data. Furthermore, a slight modification of this procedure leads to robust LOWESS(LOcally WEighted Scatter plot Smoothing) based on possibility regression.
