In this paper, a new algorithm for symmetric Traveling Salesman Problem by ISODATA is proposed. However this is a kind of hierarchical partitioning approach, the solver exhibits high performance of formation that the distribution of cities is uniform. This advantage originates in the knowledge implementation which is well suited to iteration process and high interaction among clusters of ISODATA. Therefore the theoretical analysis of dynamics of ISODATA is very complicated mathematically and the authors exhibit the activity of the system by experiments, for example, effects of parameters, evaluation of test data sets on common library(TSPLIB), uniform data sets, and dynamic data sets.

This paper considers a minimum spanning tree problem with fuzzy costs. Based on possibility theory, the problem is formulated as a fuzzy mathematical programming problem, and is to find the spanning tree which maximizes the possibility measure or the necessity measure with respect to a fuzzy goal. First, we consider a fuzzy spanning tree problem where the edge costs are L-R fuzzy numbers and construct a polynomial order algorithm. Next, we investigate the fuzzy spanning tree problem where a set of the edge costs is a possibilistic variable with a quadratic possibility distribution, and improve the proposed algorithm for solving the problem.

Fuzzy modeling is a method to describe input-output relationships using fuzzy inference. Fuzzy modeling can approximate complex nonlinear systems and it is easy for humans to understand fuzzy rules. One of the major difficulties in fuzzy modeling is allocation of membership functions for each input variable. This paper proposes a new method for allocation of membership functions. For proposing the method in this paper, case studies on methods for initial allocation of membership functions, ones for insertion of membership functions, and ones for stopping conditions, are carried out. The initial allocation of membership functions is searched for by roughly allocating them under Akaike Information Crirerion(AIC). The stopping condition of the learning of fuzzy models is given either by a criterion using test data with sample data being divided into two groups:training data and test data, or by AIC where all the samples are used as training data. Experiments are done to show that the proposed method is effective in allocating membership functions more properly than the conventional method.

The purpose of our research is to represent emotions which are difficult to express onto a robot as compared with the logical knowledge. The emotional simulator for an autonomous mobile robot which is able to express various emotions based on three basic emotional vectors : Joy, Anger and Sadness was developed in this research. These basic emotional vectors are described only with simplified fuzzy reasoning rules. In this paper, we also report the result of experiments performed with miniature robot for the purpose of confirming the efficiency of this simulator.

This paper proposes a technique of local principal component analysis which extracts principal components independent of some external criteria. Fuzzy c-Regression Models is used to estimate the parameters of regression models with a fuzzy c-partitioning of the data. We decompose the fuzzy scatter matrix of each cluster into two matrices. One is closely related to the external criteria and the other is independent of them. Principal components independent of the external criteria are obtained from the decomposed fuzzy scatter matrix of each cluster.
