In the present paper, the visualization of gas-particle two-phase flow passing through the bag-filter attached perpendicularly into the duct flow and impinging at a single thin fiber is performed by PIV and PTV methods. It is found that the velocity of dust in the pinhole of the bag-filter reaches about 80 times as fast as the conveying velocity of gas in the dust collector. A numerical simulation of multi-phase flow impinging at a circular thin rod that is the model of a single fiber composing the bag-filter felt is studied. The difference of erosive wear mechanism between a brittle material and a ductile material is shown by distinctive configurations of the cross-section of rod that are formed as a consequence of particle impact erosion.
