A method of solving elastic problems of an infinite strip with an elliptic hole is given by means of the Cartesian coordinates, and applications are made to two problems, tension and bending, and numerical results are examined.
The author also proposes a law on the stresses of perforated strips, which will enable the approximate evaluation of stresses in many unknown cases.

Recently Y. Takahasi has given a very convenient method solving graphically the problems of heat conduction. In this paper, we extended to the spherical coordinate and applied to the problems with heat radiation from spherical surface and proved the utility.

The present paper describes the general theory of the rate-of-climb indicators and the experimental methods which predict the performances of the component part of the rate-of-climb indicators. Precise experiments were consecuted to compare the results of the theory with the actual results. Several tpyes of compensated rate-of-climb meters are proposed and few of them were actually constructed and tested.

Hitherto the upper structure of the coach, which has been neglected in the analysis of strength, is conceivable to resist to the bending of the body co-operatively with side structure. From this, point of view, the author tried to analyse this problem, taking "the shear lag effect" into consideration.

In this paper, several theorems which provide upper and lower bounds for the eigenvalues of Hermitian operator are represented in a geometrical space. The problems here treated are of finite degree of freedom and represented in a n-dimensional vector space. This method, however, can be extended to a system with an infinite number of freedom.

The Author has made a theoretical study on the swinging motion in the vertical plane of the wire of over-head electric power transmission line. We take the case of several consecutive spans each suspended with suspension insulators, the two extreme ends being dead ended. In this Report I, the fundamental equations and characteristic equation of free oscillation together with a numerical example are given.
