【Purpose】 The transition from the existing connectors to new connectors (International Organization for standardization(ISO)80369 - 3 compliant connectors) began in 2019 in order to reduce the risk linked to misconnections. However, there are a few reports for the usability of ISO 80369-3. The aim of this study was to investigate the awareness of new connectors and existing connectors in the pediatric ward of our hospital in order to improve nutritional guidance. 【Subjects and Methods】 In 2023, A questionnaire survey on new and existing connectors was conducted among 75 medical staff(21 doctors and 54 nurses) working in pediatric wards. Results: The items with more than twice as high percentages among the occupations were "Difficulty in connecting and disconnecting", "Difficulty in suctioning gastric drainage", "Tube is about to be pulled when connecting”, “Difficulty in air decompression", and "Generally requiring force” among doctors, which were concerned with attachment and suction/decompression. On the other hand, nurses were mainly concerned with infusion, with "The new connectors are easier to use," "Semi-solid nutrition is difficult to infuse," "A lot of residual medication," and "Difficulty in infusing a small amount of medication". 【Conclusions】 Since there were some items that showed differences in awareness among the different occupations, it is important to unify the awareness of the different occupations in order to successfully provide nutritional guidance.

【Objective】 This study aimed to cross-sectionally examine social participation, mental and psychological status, oral and nutritional status, and physical activity status as factors associated with the risk of sarcopenia in older adults requiring care who attend day-service centers. 【Method】 A questionnaire survey was conducted with 99 day-service center users from October to November 2023. The SARC-F was used as a screening tool for sarcopenia, with a score of 4 or higher indicating suspected sarcopenia. Logistic regression analysis was employed to assess the relationship between social participation, mental and psychological status, oral status, nutritional status, and physical activity status, with the presence of suspected sarcopenia being the dependent variable. 【Results】 Sarcopenia was suspected in 58.6 % of the participants. Factors significantly associated with suspected sarcopenia included a "severe level of need for care" ( odds ratio range:1.18-20. 87), "low subjective sense of health" ( odds ratio range: 1. 28-26.91), and "avoiding hard foods and consuming only soft foods" ( odds ratio range: 1.01 - 14.65). 【Conclusion】 Approximately 60% of older individuals using day-service centers are at risk of sarcopenia. The findings suggest that care providers should prioritize early detection and support for users suspected of having sarcopenia by assessing their level of need for care, subjective health perceptions, and masticatory function.
