Accreditation of the degree programmes in Engineering is surely an argument which stimulates a great interest not only in the Italian level but above all in the European perspective. It appears strategic that Europe is equipped with a system which permits to compare the degree programmes in Engineering offered by various universities in Europe also in view of a major competition in the area of higher education in the European Union, in comparison with third countries. This appears the principal basis of different actions financed by the European Commission, which have among their own objectives also the study of an accreditation system of the degree programmes in Engineering in Europe. In this article 3 SOCRATES Thematic Networks are presented, which, one after the other, starting from 1998, have been operational in the European panorama. Among their objectives there is a recurrent motive: accreditation of the degree programmes in Engineering in Europe.

International collaboration in an Engineering Design Education between two universities, Kanazawa Institute of Technology, Japan and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, USA, was started in 2004. Three academic years of experience in conducting the joint course are summarized. The collaboration involves an Engineering Design course that is required for first- and second-year engineering undergraduates at Kanazawa Institute of Technology, and an elective course for engineering undergraduates at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Students from each institution, who stay in their own institution, form one independent team, select one project theme, and practice design activities separately. "Establishing Sustainable/Ecological Society" was selected as the main theme of the collaborative design project in 2006. Progress reports and final achievements were exchanged between the two institutions. This collaborative design project provided a positive experience for students and also benefited the faculty members. The paper summarizes the achievements gained from an international collaborative project and offers ideas for future improvements.

A model of internationalization in Japanese universities is defined from the authors' viewpoint. Examples of successfully internationalized universities are introduced and described. Finally, the international relationship between the College of Science and Technology of Nihon University (CST-NU) and the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) and Xi'an University of Technology (XUT), is historically reviewed in order to develop a genuine understanding of the importance of internationalization in developing closer relationships in the future.

Recently, a phenomenon which gifted/talented young people avoid entering into a school of engineering is deepened in Korea. This situation has grown more serious as a national competitiveness and a national engineering technology. It is need to create social environment to make friends with engineering, to expand an employment of engineer, to strengthen fundamental scientific education, to strengthen engineering university education, and to attract the interest of many gifted/talented people to overcome this situation in Korea. For the settlement of this situation, The Korea Robot Aircraft Competition was initiated in 2002 to overcome this situation, to enhance the UAV (Unmanned Air Vehicle) technology and to develop UAV research manpower in Korea. The Korea Robot Aircraft Competition is managed by KAIA (Korea Aerospace Industries Association) and KSAS (The Korea Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences), and supported by MOCIE (Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy). The Korea Robot Aircraft Competition is open to both undergraduate and graduate students, and public. The competitors must use their own designed UAV's to challenge the mission requirements. The Korea Robot Aircraft Competition was held annually and the 5^<th> competition was held in 2006. The Korea Robot Aircraft Competition has been playing one of the key roles in engineering technology and the Korean UAV Technology. From The Korea Robot Aircraft Competition, many gifted/talented young people will be attracted the interest in engineering and engineering technology will be developed through entering into an engineering of gifted/talented young people. Also, from a national point of view, national scientific technology and competitiveness in export will be improved through the brisk activity of gifted/talented scientist and engineer.

INTENG ("INT" ernational "ENG" ineering) network system has been developed in order to exchange information collaboratively among many different countries and to be an electric worldwide liaison. INTENG is an acronym that contains TENG (Japanese sacred genie, which can strike everywhere at once) and represents its timeless and spaceless features. It is composed of two separate Forum/Entrance: Open and Secure Private. The unique characteristics are multilingual framework more than 20 languages and all components are based on open source software, thus basically there are no charge for software, licenses, and its maintenances/upgrades, in addition to no limitation of license numbers. Besides, it boasts platform (Linux, Macintosh, Windows) independency, an easy to use interface with no prerequisite software installation, real-time backup by RAID device, and data-safety by UPS. All exchange information on Secure Private Forum is encrypted through SSL/HTTP certification and its access can be secured by a restricted domain and an IP address. Not only the conventional application of file repository/database, schedule/project management, electric poll, etc but also access analysis can be utilized for a feedback to improve its content and for a marketing research. In this initial report, we will present its basic features and its current status in our campus and sister Universities (Indonesia, Thailand, and China).

The purpose of engineering education is to cultivate engineers of talent needed in industry. An accreditation system for engineering education is recently introduced by Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK) and curriculums of many engineering colleges are revised to reflect demands of industry and to reinforce the relevant major education. In this paper, the present status of the Accreditation of Engineering Education of Korea and the effect of engineering accreditation of school of mechanical engineering at Pusan National University are examined. From the result, we conclude that to develop the engineering education in Korea, various efforts to make talented high-school-students come to engineering colleges as well as to provide the engineering education of high quality are required. To make the efforts produce good results, close cooperation among related industries, governmental agencies and universities is needed.
