Many accidents of tile peel-off from the exterior walls of RC structures occurred in the 1970's and prevention of such accidents is an important theme. The MCR (Mortar-Concrete Rivet) method is a method in which indenations are made on concrete surfaces from which tile peel-off is likely to occur. In order to confirm its effectiveness, actual buildings in which this method was used were surveyed 2, 5 and 8 years after tiling. It was found that the method was highly effective in preventing tile peel off. However, some problems seem to remain with respect to tiles laid at joints, around openings and in corners.
