Developing talent and establishing conditions conducive to creativity and innovation are important challenges for all organizations, yet little is known about the relationship between these two key areas. The purpose of this study was to quantitatively explore the relationship between the climate for creativity and innovation, and to qualitatively examine narrative comments regarding other factors in the work environment that help or hinder talent development efficacy. Results indicated significant relationships between all dimensions of creative climate and talent development, with four dimensions (Idea Support, Challenge and Involvement, Idea-Time, and Trust and Openness) as the strongest predictors. The narratives provided deeper insight into why these climate dimensions are germane, and identified the support of leaders, supervisors and peers; as well as equal access to development opportunities and resources as two other relevant factors within the broader work environment influencing talent development efficacy.

This study investigates the agricultural food industry and how to make it more competitive by upgrading its industrial structure. To solve this, we investigated the skills and the career manage- ment of human resources whose role is to facilitate cross-sectoral inter-organizational collabora- tion and create high value-added businesses. Following the presentation of a conceptual model created based on a review of previous studies, this study aims to construct a theory based on the results of a comparative analysis of three cases in Japan and Germany. The results of this analysis indicate that human resources for facilitating cross-sectoral inter-organizational collaboration have several skills that are classified as human, technical, and conceptual skills. Two cases in Japan put great emphasis on career development through on-the-job training (OJT) and work experience, whereas in Germany, suitable personnel are recruited from the external labor market and are further developed by learning technical and human skills through an off-the-job-training (Off-JT) system. An analysis of the effect of networks with related businesses on human resource development showed that Germany has an evaluation system that does not exist in either case in Japan, and that this system is linked to the continuous career management of human resources. The initial conceptual model was corrected based on the analysis of results.

The purpose of this study is to show the mechanism by which the human resource architecture, a bundle of human resource policies, transitions from one type to another through a case analysis of a nonprofit organization (NPO). Specifically, adopting a perspective of “negotiated order” (Strauss, 1978), the mechanism by which negotiations on understandable contexts and issues are formed between the management and employees in the process of expanding human resource policies along with organizational development—and then creating a new human resource architecture— is demonstrated. Through the analysis of the case, propositions regarding conditions for the transitions in the human resource architecture and theoretical implications for non-profit human resource research are presented.

Although national and international institutional progress has been made based on the disclosure of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) challenges faced by companies, a better understanding of the concept and nature of ESG information is required for both the companies that prepare the information and stakeholders who use the information because ESG information differs from financial information in terms of its nature and concepts. Moreover, ESG issues are associated with externalities derived from companies’ activities. Therefore, for company managers those issues may not be relevant. Although institutional ESG disclosure systems have developed rapidly, the fundamental issue of accountability tends to be ignored among market stakeholders. This study reviews the concept and nature of ESG, explores empirical cases and recent developments in institutional ESG disclosure systems at national and international levels, and identifies challenges associated with ESG disclosures in light of accountability, which is the most critical factor for achieving substantive ESG disclosures towards sustainability. When adopting institutional ESG information disclosure frameworks and standards, companies must carefully consider how such disclosures can achieve accountability.

Metaverse has a wide range of application scenarios in the social and economic fields and has played an important role in promoting the innovation of human thoughts and ideas. Metaverse has brought about reconsideration and transformation in production, entertainment, and sup- ply chains. In this paper, first, the origin of the metaverse and its related technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud computing, IoT, Human Computer Interaction and Digital twins are discussed, especially in relationship to blockchain technology and NFTs. In addition, this paper analyzes the potential application of the metaverse in the supply chain and proposes a conceptual framework for a supply chain digital ecosystem with the metaverse. Finally, the case of building a metaverse in the Japanese automotive industry is demonstrated. Furthermore, through analysis of the connotations of the metaverse, this paper proposes that the metaverse is not equal to the virtual world, nor is it another form of existence parallel to the real world, but a form of interac- tion and integration of the real world and the virtual world, which is the living and working environment of human beings in the future.

With the rapid spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the volatility in financial markets worldwide increased considerably. Therefore, in this study, we adopt regime switching models where regression coefficients change in each regime to investigate the relationship between equity returns and factor risk. Fund managers need to insulate their invest- ment portfolios from these tail risk and to understand the relationship between factor risks and equity returns during these highly volatile periods. We apply regime switching models where regression coefficients are updated during each regime to. We check whether the ESG index outperforms the benchmark such as the S&P 500 as ESG investment is a hotly debated issue in the current investment scenario. We also apply the Markov switching and state space models with the Kalman filter technique to corroborate our findings.
