    There have been evacuation simulations developed to assess evacuation scenarios and provide visual confirmation of evacuation situations, while Verification and Validation (V&V) of these models has been discussed at international conferences such as ISO meetings. In the past study, we compared the situation of crowd flows between an evacuation drill and a result by evacuation simulation model named SimTread. We found the nearly similarity of distribution data in the fundamental diagram of relationship between the density and flow rate of the evacuee cluster.

    In this study, we reproduced the same evacuation drill where a phased evacuation was employed from a 25-story building using an evacuation simulation SimTread. To find differences and similarities, the evacuation drill and the result of SimTread were compared by the following items; the evacuation flowability and merging ratio of pedestrian flows between evacuees from a floor and evacuees descending from above floors, the movement trajectory with time of the tracers who descended the stairs, and flowability and characteristics of flow at an exit of the first floor. There were some differences in flow characteristics in presence or absence of confluences at landings, but evacuation completion time and flow rate at the exit were very similar.

    Single Incisional Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) is executed through a single 2 cm incision in the navel, it makes forceps touch each other, and doesn't homologize a movement between operational parts and tip forceps parts.

    In our research, we develop new type of laparoscopic surgery forceps, "Bypass forceps". Bypass forceps is inserted through navel but brings the operational direction in line with forceps grasping direction by parallel linkage.

    We have done designing the links of Bypass Mechanism Arm (BMA), simulating and evaluating motion of BMA, fabricating and verifying prototype forceps. The operation direction of the forceps could not be aligned with the gripping direction. The desired posture and movement were not obtained, and the parallel link mechanism did not become parallel exactly.

    As a result, we confirmed that a processing method with a high degree of parallelism was required.

    The inflow cannula of left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) is connected with suturing, and the establishment of a convenient and less time procedure is required for a consistent connection. We have developed a self-connecting inflow cannula using the integrated low-level energies adhesion technique that enables tissue and metal adhesion only by applying heat and pressure for around a hundred seconds. In this study, we performed an animal experiment to identify issues with the device. The device connection was completed in about 6 minutes. Based on the experimental results, we improved the device; the adhesive area height is shortened from 15 mm to 10.5 mm to fit the ventricle wall thickness, and the number of vacuum slits is increased from two to three to improve the tissue adhesion. The adhesion strength of the device is improved by 40% from 36 kPa to 50 kPa.
