We compared the trapping efficiencies of a pheromone trap developed in 2012 in Japan (TRIOS® for Trogoderma granarium, Fuji Flavor Co., Ltd.) and a foreign-made pheromone trap (DOME ™ Trap for T. granarium and T. variabile, Trécé Inc.) for T. granarium adult males. The trap was placed in a plastic container (W55.0 x D38.4 x H4.1 cm inner dimensions) and 50 T. granarium adult males were released. After 48 h the captured adults were counted. The capture rates were 88.8% for the TRIOS® and 58.6% for the DOME ™ Trap, thus revealing a significantly higher trapping efficiency with the TRIOS® than with the DOME ™ Trap.

The morphological characteristics of two similar oecophorids, Martyringa ussuriella and M. xeraula, were investigated. The latter is a stored grain pest, and the former may be one. Examination of adults, genitalia, and larvae revealed that the two species can be easily distinguished on the basis of the male and female genital characteristics.
