麦茶の好ましい味・香り，すなわち風味についてフレーバーホイールを作成することで，精確かつ具体的な表現を可能にすると共に，それを用いた分析型官能評価による市販の麦茶の味・香りの特徴を評価した．さらに，2種類の丸粒形状の麦茶についてAEDA法を採用したGC-O分析により，香気を比較した．よって，官能評価と化学分析の二つの手法により麦茶の好ましい味・香りについてアプローチを行い，その特性の解明を試みた．

（1）麦茶の香り特性表現用語として抽出された122語から計28語にまとめ，香りの総合的な強さの評価項目1語と味の表現用語4語を加え，麦茶フレーバーホイールを作成した．表現用語を統一したことで市販の麦茶の味・香り，すなわち風味に関するより具体的なコミュニケーションを可能にした．

（2）作成した麦茶フレーバーホイールの各用語を用いて市販の麦茶11商品の低温および高温条件抽出液の評価を行った．市販の麦茶は風味の特徴により5つのクラスターに分けることができ，綿菓子，ビスケットなどの甘い香りや甘味の強いもの，コーヒー，焦げなどの苦い香りや苦味の強いもの等があったことより，麦茶の香りに多様性があることが証明された．

（3）市販の丸粒形状の麦茶2商品はGC-O分析の結果，異なる香りの特徴を有しており，麦茶Aは全体的に甘い香りの特徴を，麦茶Bは甘い香りと共に生ごみ様の香りを特徴として強く有していた．このGC-O分析による評価結果と官能評価結果は一致している可能性があることが示唆された．

Le macchine di Munari, pubblicato dalla casa editrice Einaudi nel 1942, è uno dei primi “libri per i bambini” di Bruno Munari (1907-1998). La caratteristica comune delle macchine inserite in questo albo è di essere costituite da meccanismi eccentrici e immaginari, che, non presentando alcuna utilità o praticità, invitano il lettore al sorriso. In realtà, già prima della pubblicazione dell’opera, l’artista aveva presentato alcune versioni delle macchine, in particolare in forma di vignetta, nel giornale umoristico settimanale Settebello (1933-1941), dal 1938 al 1939.

Come ammesso da Munari stesso, l’immagine delle sue macchine si ispirava al disegnatore, o, per essere precisi, “vignettista” umoristico statunitense Rube Goldberg (1893-1970), conosciuto come inventore della Rube Goldberg machine. La machine di Goldberg era infatti composta da un complesso meccanismo basato su una reazione a catena, ma in grado di fare soltanto una cosa banale e semplicissima. Dal 1912 il vignettista statunitense aveva cominciato a illustrare la serie di machine per la stampa, e la sua attività aveva suscitato l’attenzione di una parte del campo artistico del suo Paese (per es. di Marcel Duchamp e del Museum of Modern Art di New York). Certo nell’albo di Munari è possibile trovare indizi della conoscenza della Rube Goldberg machine, ma le macchine munariane contengono anche elementi che ne indicano l’originalità. In primo luogo la decisa negazione dell’utilitarismo della macchina in termini generali e il mancato utilizzo nell’illustrazione della macchina della reazione a catena, cioè l’elemento più caratterizzante della Goldberg machine. In altre parole, il “nonsense” delle macchine munariane appare sottolineata in modo più drastico.

Pur non dichiarando esplicitamente modi e tempi della conoscenza del lavoro di Goldberg, Munari aveva già presentato un prototipo di Macchine almeno in una pagina della rivista annuale non umoristica Almanacco letterario Bompiani del 1933.

Dal 1927 al 1937, Munari, seppure partecipe del movimento futurista italiano, non fu in grado di dedicarsi alla pura arte e, per guadagnarsi da vivere, dovette fare molte esperienze nel campo dell’editoria come vignettista o illustratore. A Milano, infatti, dove egli si trovava, stavano crescendo rapidamente alcuni grandi imprese editoriali come Bompiani o Mondadori.

Negli anni Trenta, intanto, fiorivano alcuni nuovi e popolarissimi giornali umoristici come Marc’Aurelio (1931-1958) o Bertoldo (1936-1943). La repressione esercitata sui giornali umoristici antifascisti negli anni Venti aveva vietato le vignette satiriche a tema generalmente politico e in questo clima gli umoristi professionisti, quando non favorevoli al regime, sottoposti alla censura e alla guida amministrativa, si trovavano a disegnare vignette che, attaccando Paesi stranieri come Francia, Inghilterra e Unione Sovietica, li dipingevano come nemici. Sotto questo aspetto, il concetto umoristico delle Macchine create da Munari non era si poneva in contrasto con il regime, ma piuttosto era neutrale rispetto alla linea politica.

La collaborazione di Munari al Settebello fu favorita da un abile dirigente della testata: Cesare Zavattini (1902-1989), uno dei grandi sceneggiatori del cinema neorealista dopo la Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Questi, lavorando durante gli anni Trenta per varie case editrici milanesi in qualità di redattore e correttore di bozze, aveva incontrato Munari nella redazione dell’Almanacco letterario Bompiani. In quel periodo Zavattini era incaricato del progetto del Bertoldo per la Rizzoli, ma venne assunto dalla Mondadori per occuparsi della direzione di vari periodici dal 1936 in poi. Nel 1938, quando gli venne affidato l’incarico di caporedattore del Settebello, Zavattini chiamò Munari fra i giovani vignettisti e questo

In 2019, the documentary photography book titled Dignity was published. It shows us shocking figures suffering from poverty in big cities or small rustbelt towns in the United States and the poor situations of the people in the 21st century. Moreover, as indicated by its title, the photo book presents the unyielding spirit of people who endure the painful poverty with human dignity. The author, Chris Arnade, praises their spirit, but from the book, we can see that dignity complicates the issues of poverty, preventing the poor from asking others for aids. Curiously enough, Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance also shows the manner in which poor hillbillies stick to dignity even under the degraded situations. Dignity is so essential for humans that they never abandon it despite any humiliation as Francis Fukuyama stressed in The End of History and the Last Man. In the book, he insists that the United States can satisfy the pride of the people by ensuring free enjoyment of dignity without recourse to any ideological legitimacy. This essay challenges his idea by probing that dignity in the light of poverty becomes obstructions for poor people to reveal their horrible circumstances.

The main part of the essay specifically explores the way three American authors deal with poverty in their novels and stories and concludes that the issues of poverty are likely to be invisible in characters that do not yield to humiliation with a strong sense of dignity. Raymond Carver’s “Neighbors” shows the couple named the Millers, who do not want to accept the fact that another couple, the Stones, who live in the next room succeed and soar up to the upper class. Besides, dignity does not allow the Millers to feel that they are a loser in the American society. When the Millers take care of the Stones room, as they are away on account of business and pleasure, the refusal of the fact leads them to act eerie behaviors in the room of the Stones. In a different nuance from “Neighbors,” readers also sense the strength of human dignity from Tom Joad in John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath. He is very firm in his conviction that people are no more humans if they lose dignity. In fact, Tom, because of belief on dignity, harshly denounces a garage worker with one eye who repeatedly complains about his unfortunate luck. Although the ways Carver and Steinbeck present poverty are different, both of them write about the characters showing aspects of dignity in their difficult situations.

Contrarily, Erskine Caldwell does not hide the environments of penury by featuring elements of humanities, such as dignity and morality. Caldwell can be distinguished from Carver and Steinbeck in that Caldwell does not hesitate to show spiritual poverty of humans who are degenerated to be creatures like animals or materials, whereas the other two depict only physical poverty. That is the reason why many of the readers cannot stand seeing those aspects in characters and evade reading Caldwell’s works. One of the traits of his literature is that he does not highlight human virtues but directs readers’ attention to the horrible effects of poverty on human minds. However, this is nothing but Caldwell’s literary ethics, as people are liable to turn blind eyes to poverty with an attempt to find some hope or humanity in such a degraded situation. His works should see the light in the era where class disparity is worse than ever.

近年，サンプリングした現場で即時に分析が可能な小型分析装置の需要が高まっている．著者らは，小型・低電力の電気浸透流ポンプとカラム内蔵チップからなる小型HPLCシステムの開発に取り組んできた．本研究では，小型HPLCシステム全体のさらなる小型化を目指しながら検出における汎用性を拡張するため，カラム内蔵チップに適用可能で，汎用性が高い紫外吸光度検出モジュールを構築した．そのために光源及び受光器に深紫外発光ダイオード（ピーク発光波長255 nm）及びフォトダイオードを用いるとともに，これらの動作を制御し，信号を処理するシステムも構築した．さらに，検出モジュールが市販分光光度計並みの感度を持ち，良好にクロマトグラム測定ができることを実証した．
