        This article presents the results of research designed to explore the coach dispatch programme which was conducted by the committee of the Japan Gymnastics Association to promote men′s rhythmic gymnastics outside Japan. Although men′s rhythmic gymnastics has been developed for over fifty years in Japan, the existence of this sport has been endangered since around 2001, when global success came to be considered essential for every competitive sport. To bring this sport to more athletes and a wider audience, the committee sent top gymnasts to some countries from 2001 to 2006. However, the details of the programme and the reasons why the programme was terminated in 2006 were not publicly recorded. Thus, this article investigates what the representatives accomplished and what problems and future tasks the coaches recognised to identify the structure of the problems that have occurred in the process of the global diffusion of the sport.
        Interview data were analysed according to the principles of the SCAT (Steps for Coding and Theorization) Qualitative Data Analysis Method. Results show that the defects were inherent in their organisation and the programme itself, which were recognised by most of the coaches dispatched, such as lack of close consideration before the programme was set out, and the fact that the coaches were supposed to carry out their mission on a fairly low budget and in an unfamiliar culture, mostly without any support from the committee in Japan. Research indicates that the coach dispatch programme was aborted as a result of a combination of those factors. Additionally, this paper argues that further tasks of the programme suggested by the informants are significantly affected by their understandings of the characteristics of this sport and their philosophy of it.

      The purpose of this paper is to explain how the bowling industry was able to attract new customers in the 1960s. The concept of the Blue Ocean strategy which is advocated by Kim and Mauborgne, will be applied as an analytical framework. In the early 1960s, while the pachinko or mahjong industry had the largest share of the leisure market, the bowling industry did not compete against these industries, but tried to attract new customers by creating new values.
      To develop the Blue Ocean strategy, it is necessary to decide the factors to be eliminated, reduced, raised, and created in comparison with conventional industry standards. The bowling industry had eliminated the gambling spirit of the game, reduced prices improved convenience, raised TV exposure and the value of female athletes, and created a sense of wholesomeness and fashionability. Through these processes, the bowling industry succeeded in tapping the women’s and young people’s market. In these processes, the industry positioned physical exercise as part of the leisure industry. At the same time, the industry created a new value of sports as “entertainment” .
      It was clear that the bowling industry as a whole had tapped the Blue Ocean but afterward, the inside of the industry became a typical Red Ocean; bowing centers competed using cost leadership strategy or differentiation strategy.

    Following on from the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Paralympics, this paper reports on the production techniques for the performance of persons with disabilities at major events and procedures for training specialists, which the author developed. In the cultural program “Yokohama Paratriennale,” where the author serves as general director, the author herself became aware of three accessibility-related issues (environment, psychology, and information) in stage production involving people with disabilities, and developed the specialist roles of “access coordinator” and “accompanist” in an effort to address these issues. These specialists perform roles in developing the creative environment and the communication to enable people with disabilities to participate with a sense of confidence.

    Attending the flag handover ceremony of the closing ceremony of the Rio 2016 Paralympics with these specialists, the author observed firsthand the difficult challenges of the production procedures for a ceremony that is broadcast live worldwide from a large-scale venue. Before improving techniques and skills in the artistic expression of the cast, choreograph of people with disabilities, the author realized that it was necessary to adopt an approach for developing “physical strength” that would enable them to withstand that environment, and “social skill” that would facilitate cooperation with the large number of staff involved. While incorporating physical training and aerial performance into the training, the author learned about Cirque du Soleil’s social circus program and adopted some of its methods.

    While the Games were postponed for one year due to the spread of COVID-19, cast auditions were held for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. In the end, approximately 160 performers with disabilities were able to perform. The experience of cooperation among several thousand members of the cast and staff, was something that extended beyond whether a person is with or without a disability, and is now paving the way for the next step and action within various fields.

     コモディティ化の本質は,競争によって製品やサービスの価値が,価格というもっとも可視性の高い次元に一元化されているということにある.そうであれば,価値次元の可視性を意図的に低下させ,競合製品との比較が困難な状態を構築すればコモディティ化を克服することができるという発想が出てくる.こうした脱コモディティ化の思考に立脚したイノベーションとして「カテゴリー・イノベーション」の概念を提示し,既存研究が主張しているさまざまなイノベーションの概念と相対化する.
