Seventeen coastal marine fish species belonging to 11 families are reported on the basis of specimens collected from Karyogo, Nahari Town, Kochi Prefecture, facing Tosa Bay.The following thirteen species are newly recorded from Tosa Bay, though their occurrences have been recorded from Kashiwa-jima, Ohtsuki Town, Kochi Prefecture, facing the Bungo Channel: Malacanthus latovittatus, Chaetodon baronessa, Chromis vanderbilii, Plectroglyphidodon dickii, Labricthys unilineatus, Pseudocheilinus hexataenia, Exallias brevis, Paragobiodon lacunicolus, Ptereleotris micolepis, Zebrasoma veliferum, Z. scopas, Rhinecanthus rectangulus and Pervagor aspricaudus. The occurrence of P. aspricaudus represents the northernmost record for the species. A single specimen of Syngnathus schlegeli previously unknown from eastern Tosa Bay is also described.
