When one object moves in contact with another object, the friction vibration called stick-slip may occur. This phenomenon causes problems in various situations. For example, they have chatter of machine tools and corrugation of rails. Therefore, in order to reduce or prevent a stick-slip, it has been studied by many researchers. However, its mechanism has not been completely elucidated yet. Therefore, we tried to analyze a stick-slip using Discrete Element Method (DEM) that can represent the contact state of the objects. In this study, the stick-slip friction model and the deformation model are proposed. Furthermore, the proposed model is implemented into the conventional DEM model and simulated, and the validity of the model is investigated by comparing the experimental results with the simulation results. As a result, the simulation results of the proposed model were similar to the experimental results in the stick-slip period and the behavior of the contact surface.
