The present paper decribes the general theory and the experiment of the newly invented "differential rate-of-climb meter" which indicates the vertical acceleration of the airplane by the change of the atmospheric pressure. When the airplane is in phygoid motion, the lag of the indication of the differential rate-of-climb meter is very small compared to the vertical speed. So the pilots of the airplane will be able to control his plane more easily than the common rate-of-climb meter is used. One method of affording the differential character to the common rate-of-climb meter is proposed.
