This essay discussed the documentary TV programs on the history of science and technology produced by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK). An outline is first given of the role played by directors in the production of TV programs inferring therefrom that the quality of a program depends on the director's knowledge, particular plans and personality. He then focuses o the development that the director's intentions underlying the documentaries have undergone to find out that from 1960 to 1967 directors tried to put forward positive evaluations of science and technology, from 1967 to 1971 they not only purported to educate but also to warn and even launched accusations, from 1971 to 1978 they delved into the social significance of science and technology, and from 1978 to 1988 they laid emphasis on entertaining rather than on evaluation. Finally, the author touches on the problem of training directors to enable them to produce science and technology documentary TV programs.

It is evident from the investigation of NHK archives that many Japanese in early 1980s took the word "microcomputer" as a synonym for the word "personal computer." Although they could distinguish between microcomputers and personal computers, they thought that the personal computer was one of the most familiar microcomputers. The investigation also reveals that teenage people were considered to be center of personal computer users.

A peculiar grapsid crab, Xenograpsus novaeinsularis TAKEDA et KURATA, 1977, hitherto known only by the type specimens from the new volcanic island, Nishino-shima-shinto, about 130 km west of Chichi-jima Island, the Ogasawara Islands, was rediscovered at Akuseki-jima Island, the Takara Islands in the south of Kyushu, and Kita-Iwo-jima Island, the Iwo Islands in the south of the Ogasawara Islands. In both localities the crabs were abundantly found under the rocks covered with sulphureous waste and washed by bubbles in shallow-water thermal spring. The crabs are characteristic in using the bundles of setae covering the tips of both fingers as brush to collect something to eat.

Recent advances in TV technology has made it possible to utilize the closed-circuit television system as an information transmission medium in the clinical, educational and research fields of otolaryngology. The characteristic features of CCTV with an immediate and permanent documentation by the video cassette taperecorder is summarized here with respect to its simultaneity, recordability, reproducibility, instantaneity, and repeatability.
The significance of introduction of CCTV into endoscopy, microsurgery, communication betweena surgeon and pathologist in surgery, clinical lecture, histological presentation to students, and presentation at medical conferences is discussed.

テレビ画面への字幕挿入に際しての文字量や表示時間は、番組の性格や見る人によって異なるものと言われる。現在、聴覚障害者のための文字多重放送では、画面や電子技術上の制約もあって台詞は要約で提示されている。しかし、台詞に忠実な字幕挿入は原作の意図を一層忠実に反映するばかりでなく、口形の動きとの対応が出来ることや字幕挿入の自動化が目ざせること等から極めて重要である。このため、先きに開発した簡便で文字量の調整出来る字幕挿入装置の改良と、各種番組の文字量や表示時間の分析に基づく字幕挿入の数量的範囲の検討とによって、台詞に忠実に字幕が挿入されたビデオを作成して効果を測定することにした。その結果、文字量は画面当り16字2行(32字)で、秒当り4.8字以下を目安とすることが示唆されたので、NHKドラマ「おしん」に字幕を忠実に挿入したビデオを作成し、聾学校専攻科生に提示した所、要約挿入を上まわる成果を得た。

開局60年を迎えた教育テレビの番組の変遷をグループ分けして網羅的に見ていく「シリーズ 教育テレビ60年」。3回目は「青少年向け番組」「文化・教養番組」「芸術・芸能番組」「産業・経済番組」「科学・健康番組」「高齢者向け・福祉番組」「報道番組・その他の番組」の7グループをみていく。「青少年向け番組」は、「幼児向け番組」とともに、1980年代までは総合テレビでの放送が中心であったが、90年代にゾーン編成が取り入れられた後に　番組数を増やしていった。「文化・教養番組」は、『日曜美術館』や『こころの時間』などの長年続く番組に加えて、「教育教養講座」のシリーズ番組が終了した2010年代以後、多種多様な番組を放送している。「芸術・芸能番組」「産業・経済番組」「科学・健康番組」は開局当初から、総合テレビとは異なるタイプの番組が放送されてきた。そして90年代以後、高齢化社会を迎えるとともに、福祉や多様性が日本社会全体の大きな課題となる中、番組数・放送時間を増やしてきたのが「高齢者向け・福祉番組」である。また教育テレビならではの「報道番組・その他の番組」も時代に対応して放送してきた。それぞれのグループの番組の変遷をみるとともに、シリーズのまとめとして、教育テレビに特徴的な番組と編成、ウェブなどへの展開について整理をして、今後の生涯学習社会に果たす役割を考える。

ジョセフソン効果を超伝導の概念に遡って解説し, ジョセフソン接合素子の論理・記憶素子としての動作原理, 特性.特徴, 製作技術の現状などを概観し, これを用いて構想されている超高速コンピューターの予想されている姿と応用の途について, 考えを述べた.

1959年1月、日本初の教育専門局として開局したNHK東京教育テレビジョンは2019年で60年を迎える。当初は学校放送番組や語学番組などの講座番組が中心であったが、1980年代には社会全体が生涯学習を志向するようになったこともあり、子ども向け番組や、社会人そして高齢者を対象とした番組が増え、90年代からは「ゾーン編成」が取り入れられる。2000年代になると、さらに多様な番組を展開するとともに学校放送番組や趣味実用番組を中心に、インターネットへの展開を積極的に進める。2009年、教育テレビ開局50年には「ETV50 学ぶ冒険」をテーマに特別番組やイベントを開催。2011年には「Eテレ」という愛称を採用、「未来を志向するチャンネル」として番組を改変、2017年からは「みつかるEテレ」をキャッチコピーとして、さまざまなキャンペーンやイベントを展開している。本稿では教育テレビ60年の歴史を、各年度の「国内放送番組編集の基本計画」と放送番組時刻表を基に、NHK放送文化研究所の調査や論考、教育テレビ開局周年記念番組の内容などを参照しながらみていく。
