Johannes Itten is well-known for his educational work in the preliminary course at the Bauhaus. In 1930, Itten published "Tagebuch von Johannes Itten. Beitrage zu einem Kontrapunkt der bildenden Kunst", a book on the theory of art education from the Ittenschule in Berlin. The contents of the book are as follows: "On Posture","Light and dark","Ratio","Points","Lines","Coloring "Theory","Contrasting Reactions","Rhythmic movement","Analysis of Great Paintings" and so on. In this paper, I first described Itten's idea in the incubation stage and illustrated the structure of his book. Then Itten's descriptions of "Light and dark" and "Points and Lines" were considered by comparing details of the book with "Mein Vorkurs am Bauhaus. Gestaltungs- und Formlehre". Furthermore, the similarities of Itten's thoughts with Bauhaus' theoretical meisters were also investigated. Through the above, I clarified aspects of Itten's analytical approach in art education.
