We have commercialized a system for on-site methane fermentation, which is to treat food waste and kitchen wastewater discharged under the building operation. Currently, we have been removing oil component that is contained in the food and wastewater as preprocess in the upstream of the fermenter. Because the feedstock with highly oil content ratio inhibits the methane fermentation, the oil component that is contained in the food and wastewater has been removed as preprocess in the upstream of the fermenter. In order to treat full amount of the oil discharged to the treatment plant during the building operation period, we have been developing a new method of methane fermentation. That is, supplying organic substances from the outside of the system can adjust the oil content of the feedstock into appropriate ratio. In this study, we investigate continuous fermentation tests using demonstration scale apparatus and estimated energy recovery from the test results.
