At 9 : 19 p.m. on December 28, 1994 an earthquake occurred off Sanriku. It recorded 7.5 on Richter scale, with a seismic intensity of 6. Hachinohe citysuffered damage from the earthquake and ten days later at 7 : 37 a.m. on January 7, 1995 the largest aftershock occurred and resulted further damage.
Hachinohe Mill suffered damage to machinery, water supply pipings, millhousings and foundations. After strenuous efforts to repair damages, productionat the mill resumed relatively fast. Damages from this earthquake and measures we took to restart our mill operation is reported.
