The behaviour of three binary mixtures benzene-n-heptane, n-heptane-n-propyl iodide and dodecane-quinoline, in a thermogravitational diffusion column have been studied. Results covering a wide range of initial composition are recorded. It has been found that the ideal parabolic curve relating separation and initial mixture composition is distorted; greater distortion occurring when "ring" compounds are present. The non-ideal behaviour is attributed to molecular "mobility" differences.

Fibrosis, induced by reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in neutrophils, has harmful effects on the liver and various other organs. However, little is known about the association between liver fibrosis and ROS levels in neutrophils in the general population. This large-scale epidemiological study aimed to determine the association between liver fibrosis and neutrophil-generated ROS levels according to age and sex in the general population. This cross-sectional study included 1,000 participants from a district health promotion project. Participants were grouped based on sex (male; female) and age (young, <65 years; old, ≥65 years). The four groups were as follows: male, young (n = 289); male, old (n = 100); female, young (n = 425); and female, old (n = 186). Liver fibrosis was assessed using the fibrosis 4 (FIB-4) index, aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet ratio index (APRI), and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) fibrosis score (NFS). Basal and stimulated ROS were considered in the analysis. Multiple linear analyses showed (1) significant positive corre­lations between all liver fibrosis scores and basal ROS in the young groups, and (2) significant negative correlations between NFS and stimulated ROS in females. Preventing liver fibrosis through neutrophil-related immune system enhancement may avert the development of lifestyle-related diseases and infections.

One of the most important problems in the beginning of the cotton industry in Japan was the training of workers. The mill owners had to rapidly train the technical managers such as the gaffer and the skilled workers. There are roughly 5 stages in the development of the cotton spinning industry in Japan running from 1867 to 1910s. During this period Japan succeeded in keeping out imported Indian and English imported yarn and woven goods Moreover, Japan was able to export yarn to China, Korea and India. The First Stage (from 1867) : competing with the hand spun yarn. The second stage (from 1887) : competing with the Indian yarn up to 20's. The third stage (from 1889) : competing with the English 32's yarn The fourth stage (from 1893) : competing with the English 42's two fold yarn The fifth stage (from 1894) : competing with the fine English yarn above 60's In this paper I will discuss the important role played by cotton spinning books and particularly the role these books played in the training of the technical managers and the skilled workers.

The ultrasonic velocity, sound attenuation and density measurements have been carried out for molten Cu(Cl_1−xBr_x) mixtures at temperatures from the melting points to about 800°C to investigate the thermodynamic and dynamical properties. The adiabatic compressibility of this system has obtained from the observed ultrasonic velocity and density. The observed compressibility has an interesting concentration dependence of positive deviation from linear one and has the maximum around Cu(Cl_0.2Br_0.8), which suggests large fluctuations in the molten mixtures compared with pure molten CuCl and CuBr. The sound attenuation shows large temperature dependence around x=0.2 and 0.8. We discuss the thermodynamic and dynamical properties of the molten mixtures from a view point of chemical bond, taking the difference of ionicity between Cl and Br into account.

In recent years, reinforcement learning motivated by curiosity has attracted attention. By learning features related to agents' behavior, they can focus on changes in things that are interesting from images, without being distracted by screen noise or meaningless changes. In addition, it has been reported that even with the learning result based only on the internal compensation, it has the generalization ability to be effective even at the stage other than the stage used for learning. However, in the reference paper, it was only applied to 2 stages in the "Super Mario

." Therefore, to further investigate the generalization ability of reinforcement learning motivated by curiosity, I experimented on more stages. As a result, I confirmed the generalization ability of reinforcement learning motivated by curiosity.

Understanding of gameplay can enhance the experience and entertainment of video game. In this study, we propose to utilize the sound generated by a controller for analyzing the information of gameplay. Controller sound is a user-friendly feature related to gameplay because it can be very easily recorded. As a first step of the research, we performed identification of characters of Super Smash

. Ultimate only from controller sound as an example task for examining whether controller sound contains valuable information. The results showed that our model achieved 79% accuracy for identification of five characters only using the controller sound.

Patients with implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) refractory for the treatment of heart failure have been sometimes undergone upgrade operation for cardiac resynchronization therapy with defibrillator (CRTD). If the left subclavian vein occuluded totally, left ventricular (LV) lead should be added from opposite side. These procedure have been troublesome and invasive for patients with refractory heart failure. We experienced a case of ICD (full DDD pacing) complicated with the total occlusion of left subclavian vein which underwent subclavian venoplasty with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) system and successful LV lead insertion. A 56 years old male who was implanted DDD pacemaker for complete AV block in 1995, then underwent ICD implantation for ventricular fibrillation in 2005. He underwent the upgrade operation for CRTD because of uncontrollable ascites, which could be caused by medication-resistant right heart failure sign. Venography before LV lead insertion revealed the total occlusion of his left subclavian vein. We performed subclavian venoplasty using PCI system (guide wire: ULTIMATE 3, balloon catheter: Douvan 3.0–15, 14 atm ×4) and successfully inserted LV lead. Subclavian venoplasty is effective, less invasive and safe strategy for patients with total occlusion of subclavian vein to upgrade ICD to CRTD.

近年,深層学習を用いた画像生成である GAN (Generative Adversarial Network)が盛んに研究されている｡ 我々はこれまで に GANを利用したドット絵ベースのゲームステージを自動生成する手法を検討した。具体的には、事前にステージ内のオブジェ クトを色分けすることで, GAN を使用して生成した画像における境界線のボケを解消した。本研究では、同様の手法でシステムの 異なる2Dアクションゲームのステージを自動生成し、その応用性を検証する。

The S. S. “Shanghai Maru” “Nagasaki Maru” sister ships for the Japan China express liner, built by William Denny . & Ltd. in 1922, and propelled by similar sets of Parsons geared turbines.
The blade accident of the low pressure turbine happened frequently on both steamers in past two years, and conditions of the accident seems to be same, but the cause of accidents is unknown.
The author describes on this paper, general observations and special investigations on the cause of the blade accident, concluding with his own opinion from the stand point of a practical engineer and gives some suggestions to designers and persons concerned.

5-Amino-2-benzoxazolone crystallizes in an orthorhombic space group, P2₁2₁2₁, with cell dimensions a = 4.4766(12)Å, b = 7.1015(19)Å, c = 20.095(5)Å and V = 6673(3)ų, Z = 4. The final R value is 0.0366 for 1487 reflections (I > 2σ(I)). 2-Benzoxazolone moiety is planar and the title compound exists in a 2-D framework (in crystal lattice), which is produced via two different types intermolecular N-H…O hydrogen bonds.

The one-step acylation of plant polyphenols, naringin (naringenin 7-neohesperioside) and rutin (quercetin 3-rutinoside), to the corresponding cinnamate esters was achieved by a lipase-catalyzed regioselective transesterification in a dry organic solvent. For acylation to the narigin molecule, the lipase preferentially catalyzed the acylation to the primary alcohol (C6” position of glucose) with less steric hindrance, while, in rutin, the secondary alcohol (C3” position of glucose) was acylated to the cinnamate ester by the lipase.

慢性疾患の体質素因を明らかにするための基礎として, 写真観察および身長/体重比示数によるSheldonの体型分類法を用いて, 種々の内科的疾患をもつ338例の日本人成人男性入院患者について体型分類を行った.全疾患を高血圧性疾患群, 消化器疾患群, 糖代謝疾患群, 慢性肝疾患群, 一般疾患群に分類し, それぞれの体型分布の特徴を内胚葉, 中胚葉, 外胚葉の各成分に分けて統計学的に検討したところ, いくつかの疾患群の間に有意の差が認められた一般に, どの群でも中胚葉成分が優勢であるが, 内胚葉成分は高血圧性疾患群および糖代謝疾患群に強く, 慢性肝疾患群に軽度の優勢が認められた.外胚葉成分は一般疾患群に比べて慢性疾患群全般に劣勢の傾向が認められた.このように, 慢性疾患の中には体質素因の関与が示唆されるものが認められた.

The three phase resistance welding machine recently imported by The Nippon Aluminium Mfg. Co., Ltd. from Soiaky . Inc. is called PMM 4TC-300-60 rollspot and seam welder (300KVA at 50% duty cycle, short circuit secondary current, max. 130, 000 Amps.) and guranteed to satisfy U. S. Army-Navy Specification AN-W-30.
We are going to report on sequence of various control panels, comparison between 3 phase and single phase welder, weling capacity of this welder, parameters of controls for spot welding two equal thickness of aluminum alloys and mild steel or 18-8 stainless steel, and the joint efficiency of seam-welded joints by this welder compared with that by a Japan made seam welder.
