    We propose a new method for solving the learning problem in the door opening task based on Bayesian optimization. The method is evaluated in a simulation of a door with rotating handle and an omnidirectional mobile robot with two 6-DoF manipulators.     This article summarized the test results of water level fluctuation characteristics of several typical domestic coastal NPPs in the water intake channel and pump house channel. From the current specification requirements, open channel entrance orientation, open channel length, internal boundary, pump house flow channel and long-term and short-period water level fluctuations, the impact of water level fluctuations in water intake channels and control standards are discussed and demonstrated. It is proposed that the filtering efficiency of the inlet channel, coarse grid, steel gate and fine grid in the pump room should be considered in the design, and the water level fluctuation limit of the water intake front pool can be appropriately relaxed. Regarding the long-period water level fluctuations of the open channel, short-period water level fluctuations mainly affect the liquid level difference before and after the rotating filter in the pump house channel, which may cause false alarms and normal operation of the pump and should be paid attention to in the specific design.

    The present study examined rats ’helping-like behavior towards restrained conspesifics in a trap. In a trapped condition, a rat was restrained in a wire mesh trap placed in an open field. The trap had a slide door that could be opened only from outside. A subject rat was placed in the field and allowed to explore the trap for 30 min. On an empty trial, restrained rats were not placed in the trap. Identical subjects received the trapped and empty trials alternately for 20 trials for each condition. Rats reliably learned to

    of the trap and release the trapped rats without any obvious rewards. It was expected that rats would
    open
    the
    door
    quicker on the trapped trials than on the empty trials if the rat ’s door opening behavior was motivated to help conspesifics. However, latency of door opening response remained almost equal between the trapped and the empty conditions. Additionally, in almost all cases subject rats entered the trap by themselves after opening the door. The results suggest that apparent helping behavior towards other conspesifics in rats might be induced by nonsocial motivation such as manipulating or entering into the trap but not by empathy or reducing distress in conspesifics.

    A door opening/closing movement is one of the necessary motions in the activity of daily living. In this study, we investigated the factors that affect the standing position of a door opening movement. Ninety-three young healthy volunteers (58 female and 35 male) participated in this study. We recorded the door opening/ closing movement using a GoPro Hero 4® camera from the ceiling under the following conditions. A hinged or sliding door was placed on a walkway with or without a simulated wall next to the door. After some images were taken from the camera, the distance between the great toe of the former foot and the door/wall (TD/TW distance) was calculated. The relationship among TD/TW distance and physical features were analysed by using multiple regression analyses. There were significant differences between TD and TW distance depending on door type, and wall presence showed a significant difference in TW distance. TW distance and the height were significant predictors of TD distance. TD distance was a significant predictor of TW distance. The result showed that the surrounding environment and the physical features affected the door opening movement.

    日本人は動物園が大好きだ。毎年,日本人口の半分以上にあたる延べ7千万人以上の人々が動物園や水族館を訪れている。これだけ多くの人々が集まる動物園は,野生動物を取り巻く現状について伝えるには格好の場所だ。しかし,動物園の人工的な環境で暮らす動物から学べることは,“何もしなければ”ごく限られたものになってしまう。サル山のサルを見て,形態や個体間関係を観察することはできるが,野生で何を食べ,どのようにくらし,複雑な生態系の中でどのような役割を担っているのかを学ぶことはできない。
    そこで今回の自由集会では,「野生への窓」としての動物園教育について議論を深めたい。動物園が提供可能な教育テーマは情操教育,理科教育,芸術,文化など多岐にわたるが,目の前に“ないもの”を伝えるという意味で,動物園で野生を伝えることは,とても難しい。これは,企画者自身が動物園教育の現場にいて強く感じることだ。野生の姿をどのように伝えるかという「手法」の面と,教育活動のゴールをどこに設定するかという「ねらい」の面に注目して,議論を深めたい。
    具体的には,継続的に毎年2名の職員がアフリカ・タンザニアでの研修をおこなっている京都市動物園と,2014年度より幸島,屋久島,タンザニア等への研修をはじめた日本モンキーセンターから,まずは事例紹介をおこなう。動物園職員にとっては貴重な研修の機会となるが,それを動物園教育にどのように活かせるか,参加者とともに議論したい。また,生態的展示を通して野生の姿を伝えようとする天王寺動物園の取り組みや,遠く海外だけではなく身近な環境にも目を向ける京都市動物園の取り組みを紹介いただき,議論を深めたい。
    「霊長類の保全」を目的の一つに掲げる日本霊長類学会において,霊長類研究者や動物園関係者,学生や市民を交えて議論することで,動物園教育の新たな可能性が開けると期待している。

    The basis of affectively motivated helping of another in distress has long been debated by scholars in diverse disciplines. Work in rodents that took place more than 50 years ago suggested that rodents participate in affective communication. Now the author's laboratory has established an ethical and feasible test for rodent helping behavior that involves one rat freeing another from a plastic tube. The helping exhibited is consistent, reinforced, socially selective, and independent of immediate social contact. A recent modified version of the helping behavior test confirms that rats help a conspecific in need. In sum, the complex social behavior, expressed by rodents and primates including humans, validates the notion that mammals share a phylogenetic inheritance that promotes other-oriented affective behavior.

     Many cities in Japan are located in alluvial plains, and the vulnerability of urbanized areas to flood disaster is highlighted by frequent flooding due to heavy rainfall or typhoon. Underground spaces are also flood-prone areas because those are below the ground, and water intrusion into underground space inflicts severe damages on human beings and urban functions and infrastructures.
     In order to reduce human suffering due to flood inundation in underground spaces and low-lying areas, needless to say, early evacuation is one of the most important countermeasures. This paper shows some experimental results of evacuation tests from underground spaces under inundated situations.
     The difficulties of evacuation from underground space was investigated by using three real-scale models (door, staircase, and car), and the limits for safety evacuation is discussed. From the results, it is found that water depth of 0.3–0.4m would be a critical condition for safety evacuation through staircase and door while 0.7–0.8m deep on the ground would be a critical situation for safety evacuation through the doors of the car. The relationship between the critical depth condition for the safety evacuation and the age of male subjects was also investigated by using the experimental results of real-scale door model tests and the Physical Fitness Survey results.
     A multiple regression model presented here properly reproduces the characteristics of the experimental results, such as the critical depth condition and its age-associated difference for safety evacuation. The same model is applied to the female's experimental results of real-scale door model tests and shows the overall distribution of the experimental results although the regression output still has considerable variation, especially in the young generation.

    The pandemic of Covid-19 has drastically changed the education program in universities. An on-demand lecture is one of the common approaches, which are employed to prevent the infection form spreading in the classroom. On-demand lectures generally have a good reception of the students for the reason that they could repeatedly play back the video when needed and attend the class in a relaxed attitude as they like. On the other hand, we often have some concerns about their understanding of the lecture because we could not get the feedback during the preparation of the video lectures. In addition, majority of us, beginners of on-demand lectures, have to overcome the difficulties in utilizing various tools to support them.

    Here, I would like to introduce some tips of on-demand lectures. One, who delivers a chalk talk, should obtain a good pen tablet and a suitable video recording software. Because video lectures with a large data size interrupt the comfortable views of the students, the video files should be compressed using a special software. Approachable Q&A systems should greatly enhance the learning efficiency and

    Genetic manipulation of protein levels is a promising approach to identify the function of a specific protein in living organisms. Previous studies demonstrated that the auxin-inducible degron strategy provides rapid and reversible degradation of various proteins in fungi and mammalian mitotic cells. In this study, we employed this technology to postmitotic neurons to address whether the auxin-inducible degron system could be applied to the nervous system. Using adeno-associated viruses, we simultaneously introduced enhanced green fluorescent protein fused with an auxin-inducible degron tag and an F-box family protein, TIR1 from Oryza sativa (OsTIR1), into hippocampal neurons from mice. In dissociated hippocampal neurons, enhanced green fluorescent protein fluorescence signals rapidly decreased when adding a plant hormone, auxin. Furthermore, auxininduced enhanced green fluorescent protein degradation was also observed in hippocampal acute slices. Taken together, these results

    In order to address the mechanisms of stress response of the brain, it is important to characterize each stress responsive neuron. Recently, we performed whole brain imaging at single cell resolution in Arc-dVenus reporter mice, which express destabilized Venus in activated neurons. In these mice exposed to a stressor, dVenus signals were observed in a small brain region that strongly contributes to classifying stress and control brains. Here, we examined gene expression profiles of excitatory neurons in this region and compared stress responsive neurons with their neighboring non-responsive neurons using single-cell RNA sequencing. In Arc-dVenus mice, excitatory neurons were labeled by red fluorescent protein tdTomato using the AAV-PHP.eB vector. After the mice were subjected to a single social defeat stress, tdTomato-positive and dVenus-positive neurons were individually picked up and their gene expression profiles were compared. We identified the genes of which expression are induced by the stress and those that potentially classify the stress-responsive neurons from the non-responsive neurons.     The origin of multiferroics in the proper-screw magnetic structure, the superparamagnetism in relaxor ferroelectrics with the magnetic ions, and the magnetic anisotropy induced by the spin-nematic interaction were studied mainly by using the neutron scattering method by focusing on the relationship between the magnetism and the dielectricity. In these studies, a novel coupling between the magnetism and dielectricity, which is different from that in the typical multiferroics with the cycloidal magnetic structure, was discovered.     The purpose of the study is to investigate the criterion for the force required to open fire doors, and the required dimensions of fire door frames, from an ergonomic point of view for wheelchair users, through conducting experimental studies on passing through fire doors.
    This study implemented two types of experimental design, observing subjects passing through fire doors, and measuring the force required to open them.
    The results of the study show that it is desirable for fire doors to have a required opening force of no more than 40N and a width of more than 850mm. When using a wheelchair, the direction from which the door is approached has a significant impact on whether or not the subject can pass through the door. From these observations, it is postulated that in cases where corridors are narrow and there is not sufficient room to maneuver a wheelchair, a wheelchair user will often be unable to evacuate safely to the stairwell if they approach the fire door from the door knob side. Therefore it is essential that there is sufficient space in front of the fire door to bring a wheelchair parallel to the door, and also to rotate the wheelchair 180 degrees when necessary.

    Exposure to the environmental pollutant 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) induces Cyp1a1, one of the major genes that play a key role in dioxin effects. A previous study showed that in utero TCDD exposure at embryonic day 12.5 dramatically increased Cyp1a1 induction during early development and caused DNA hypomethylation by postnatal day 14 at a specific CpG site, -500 from the Cyp1a1 transcription start site. Although this study showed epigenetic changes in the offspring from maternal TCDD exposure, exact effects in the earliest developmental stage are not known. Using mouse embryonic (ES) cells derived from B6N22UTR mouse, this study explored the in vitro genetic and epigenetic effects from TCDD exposure. First, ES cells were differentiated into neuronal lineages for 11 days. As differentiation progressed, cells became neuronal-like expressing Map2. Although Cyp1a1 transcription was induced by TCDD exposure, the induction decreased as differentiation progressed. In the second experiment, hepatic cell differentiation method was used as a better candidate to examine Cyp1a1 transcriptional activity. ES cells stably transfected with EGFP driven by Cyp1a1 promoter were cultured into hepatocytes and were observed for 30 days. Fluorescent microscopy determined that some of EGFP-positive cells were clearly induced in TCDD treated cells. However, there was no change in DNA methylation. From these results, it can be concluded that in vitro, TCDD alters DNA methylation differently from in vivo models. Nevertheless, finding the epigenetic similarities between in vitro and in vivo toxic effects will

    The purpose of this study is to define the process of the institutionalization of an

    policy for higher schools (Koto-gakko) to allow girls to attend. In Japan, higher schools had been only for boys until 1947. In the early stages of preparation for "A New General Plan of Female Education Reform", the Ministry of Education had planned to
    open
    the
    door
    of higher schools to girls. In the plan, girl's special colleges (Joshi-senmon-gakko), higher courses (Koto-ka) and special courses (Senko-ka) of higher girl's schools (Koto-jogakko) would be changed into "girl's higher schools (Joshi-koto-gakko)". However, a difficulty arose in changing girl's special colleges into "girl's higher schools". Also, it became possible for girls to receive a higher school level education through other means. Because of this, in 1946, the Ministry of Education denied the urgent need of an

    policy for higher schools, refusing to qualify girls for entry into higher schools. The revision of the Constitution made it necessary to allow girls to qualify for entry into higher schools. Therefore, the establishment of "higher schools for girls" was once more chosen as the way to

However, only the purpose was revised, and entrance qualifications were not. This originates from having tried to deal with the issue of girls' entrance qualification as an exception to the rule.
