Abstract
The measuring method which determines complex modulus of elasticity such as adhesives anddamping materials has been standardized in ASTM from bending vibration test of laminatedbeams.In this study,measuring method for such modulus by a torsional vibration test waspresented,and the relative measurement of both test methods for dynamic elastic modulus of astructural adhesive was carried out.Though the application range of the above standardizedmethod was limited to soft or hard adhesive range,a reliable value determined is not obtainedbetween middle range of the adhesives.The torsion test is shown that the determination is possible for the hard adhesive from such middle range.The measurement accuracy of both testmethods is dependent on the shape and the material constants of the laminated specimen,and itcould be evaluated for the loss factor ratio of the specimen to adhesive itself.
