AR application for spatial studies

Abstract

“Kiosk AR” is an AR application used in the spatial design process based on Kiosk Design System. This application allows the users to conduct full-scale spatial studies named “AR study.” The AR studies conducted in the target space by using this application extend the positive features of the Kiosk Design System to achieve a space that is fit for its purpose.
This paper describes the essential functions and instructions of “Kiosk AR” , and also, examples of exhibition design workshops and shared office design using the application. The considerations from these activities show that AR studies with full-scale models in the AR environment would be achieved and applied to the actual design process, which could not be achieved with models or 3DCG scale model studies.
