Molten metal freezing behavior during interaction with structure was experimentally investigated with respect to core disruptive accidents of a liquid metal reactor. The experimental results were also simulated with a reactor safety analysis code, SIMMER-III. Simulation results showed encouraging agreement with the experimental results for the penetration length both observed on stainless steel and brass structures.
