The purpose of this paper is to classify residents' demands for the renewal program of housing estates, built by Japan Housing Corporation in the late 1950 s. The study showed that residents' demands for renewal program are classified into five groups, 1) rebuilding all of dwelling units of the housing estate, 2) rebuilding the housing estate in several stages, 3) something to be renewal in the dwelling units, 4) enlargement of the dwelling units, 5) repairing the dwelling units only, And analyzed the characteristics of these five groups. We pointed out the relation of these characteristics to residents' lifestage and their income.
