Adopting a shear modulus of the orthotropic cylindrical shell, we can obtain the roots of the characteristic equation of the Donnell type basic equation of the shell. The shear modulus is the harmonic mean value of two Young's moduli of the two main curvature directions. Using the roots and the Fourier series, we show a procedure to get the analytical solution of the roof. Then, we examine a static behavior concerning about effect of the Young's moduli, shell thickness, rigidity of edge beams and longitudinal span on thrust resisting capability of some model roofs.
