A characterized fault model was constructed to reproduce the strong ground motions and permanent displacements observed during the 2023 Elbistan Turkey earthquake (Mw7.5). The large-scale distribution of permanent displacements aligns closely with crustal deformation inferred from satellite observations. Focusing on districts near surface ruptures that suffered severe damage the relationship between the distribution of building damage and that of seismic motion was examined. It was suggested that even in areas located 3~4 km from the surface ruptures severe damage occurred due to the distinctive spatial distribution of ground motion associated with supershear rupture.
